沈樹忠,1961年10月出生于浙江湖州,地層古生物學家,中國科學院院士,南京大學地球科學與工程學院教授、博士生導師,南京大學生物演化與環境科教融合中心主任。現任國際地質科學聯合會國際地層委員會副主席和《Palaeogeography,Palaeoclimatology,Palaeoecology》共同主編。

人物經歷
1961年10月,沈樹忠出生于0572湖州塘甸一個普通的農民家庭。1975年,沈樹忠考入了浙江省湖州中學,當時的環境并不是單純地讀書,學生經常要學工、學軍、學農,沈樹忠所在的高二(5)班是農村班,經常要去勞動。1977年,沈樹忠畢業于浙江省湖州中學。
1981年,沈樹忠從浙江煤炭工業學校(現浙江工商大學)畢業,畢業后被分配到離家鄉較近的浙江長廣煤炭公司,成了一名地質技術員。1983年,當了兩年煤礦地質技術員的沈樹忠被他的導師,中國礦業大學的何錫麟教授破格錄取為赴澳大利亞留學研究生。1986年,沈樹忠從中國礦業大學畢業,獲得碩士學位。1989年,沈樹忠從中國礦業大學畢業,獲得博士學位,之后留校任教,先后擔任講師、副教授。1994年春,沈樹忠接受西藏自治區考察任務,從南京趕去與希夏邦馬峰國際科考隊匯合。此后,他的科研軌跡發生改變,先后五次前往西藏進行野外地質研究。1995年,沈樹忠初次出國,被派往俄羅斯古生物研究所學習。
1996年至2000年,沈樹忠先后到日本新瀉大學理學部和澳大利Deakin大學生態與環境學院從事博士后學習和研究,并取得了優異的成績。2000年底,沈樹忠入選中國科學院百人計劃,從澳大利亞引進到中國科學院南京地質古生物研究所工作。2002年,沈樹忠獲得國家杰出青年科學基金資助。2003年,沈樹忠入選江蘇省333新世紀科學技術帶頭人(第3層次)。同年,沈樹忠獲得優秀回國人員成就獎。2004年,沈樹忠入選新世紀百千萬人才工程國家級人選。同年,他主持基金委優秀創新群體(至2012年),并獲得優秀。2006年,沈樹忠擔任科技部973項目首席科學家(至2010年)。同年,他擔任現代古生物學和地層學國家重點實驗室主任(至2015年),期間領導實驗室在地球科學領域國家重點實驗室評估中兩次(2010,2015)獲得優秀。
2012年,沈樹忠入選江蘇省333新世紀科學技術帶頭人(第一層次)。2012年至2020年,沈樹忠任國際二疊紀地層分會主席。2015年7月,沈樹忠入選中國科學院院士增選初步候選人名單。12月,增選為中國科學院院士。2017年,沈樹忠擔任南京大學生物演化與環境科教融合中心主任。2018年11月,沈樹忠全職加入南京大學,擔任南京大學地球科學與工程學院教授、博士生導師。2019年7月,沈樹忠榮獲地層學國際最高金獎(ICSMedal),成為第一位獲此獎項的亞洲科學家。2019年9月,沈樹忠當選國際地質科學聯合會國際地層委員會副主席。

沈樹忠主要從事二疊紀腕足動物門、牙形石化石系統古生物學、生物大滅絕及其以后的復蘇、定量生物古地理學、生物多樣性和古環境學等方面的研究。
科研成就
科研綜述
1994年以來,沈樹忠多次進入西藏自治區進行大量野外工作,建立以藏南為代表的岡瓦納北緣二疊-三疊紀之交連續的生物、地化和巖石地層序列,改變了該區缺失中、上二疊統的傳統認識。通過藏南與雅魯藏布江縫合帶的動物群的比較,提出雅魯藏布江縫合帶外來體和拉薩市地塊二疊紀地層和動物群與岡瓦納大陸北緣有本質區別,新特提斯洋在中二疊世業已形成等觀點,對認識古特提斯洋的古地理演化有重要意義。
在系統古生物研究方面,沈樹忠深入研究了十多個國家的腕足動物門和牙形石動物群。帶領團隊建立石炭紀-三疊紀全球腕足動物數據庫,創建全球生物古地理和多樣性演變模式,使其成為判斷該時段地體古地理位置和古海道開閉時間以及海洋底棲生態系統演變依據,提出前樂平世事件與當時全球大海退造成的大規模棲息地減少相關等新認識。
在二疊紀大滅絕事件研究中,沈樹忠與團隊成員和國際同行一起共同開展高精度綜合年代地層框架、生物多樣性定量分析和多種地化指標等研究,論證二疊紀末海陸生物大滅絕的同時性和瞬時性,指出大規模巖漿活動造成地表環境的巨變是導致該生物大滅絕的主因。相關成果在Science、PNAS、EPSL等刊物發表后,引起中國國內外同行的關注。發表在Science上的成果入選《2012年度中國科學十大進展》,相關內容被編入美國大學教材等。
2006年起,沈樹忠領導國際樂平統工作組,與國際同行進行合作,開展多門類生物地層、化學地層和高精度測年等綜合交叉合作研究,使二疊系-三疊系之交的綜合年代地層框架精度得到提高。
南京大學教授樊雋軒,中國科學院院士、南京大學教授沈樹忠等在《科學》雜志發表了題為《寒武紀至早三疊世高分辨率海洋生物多樣性演化》的論文。該研究利用古生物大數據、超算和遺傳算法等全新的方法和手段,基于化石記錄重現了生命演化歷史,改變了當前對古生代海洋生物多樣性演化的認知。
2022年5月,以中國科學院院士沈樹忠為首的科研團隊完成的二疊系瓜達魯普統卡匹敦階(Capitanian)底界全球標準層型剖面和點位(俗稱“金釘子”)研究成果,在國際地質科學聯合會的官方刊物Episodes在線發表。
2024年12月,南京大學地球科學與工程學院研究員唐卿和中國科學院院士沈樹忠等聯合中外多家科研單位在頂級學術期刊《科學》(Science)上發表重要研究成果。該研究通過建立早期地球化石大數據,利用超算和人工智能等分析方法首次繪制地球距今20億到5億年前,間隔約15億年的高精度生物多樣性演化歷史,揭示了地球上的早期生命是通過漫長的演化歷程,填補了關于早期地球生物多樣性宏演化的空白,為闡明早期地球生命起源和演化規律、探索地外生命是否存在以及宜居地球的可持續發展提供重要的理論基礎和借鑒。

學術交流
沈樹忠在華南、西藏、伊朗、美國等地開展大量生物地層學研究,多次聯合組織重大生物事件等重要國際專題會議。作為大會共同主席組織召開了國際石炭-二疊紀地質大會(2007)、國際腕足動物大會(2015)等重要國際會議,并在AAAS年會(2013)等重要國際國內會議上應邀作特邀或主題報告等。
承擔項目
截至2015年12月,沈樹忠先后主持和參加了10余項國家中華人民共和國國家自然科學基金委員會、澳大利亞聯邦基金委、科技部和原煤炭部的項目。
科研成果
截至2015年12月,沈樹忠先后獲得國家自然科學獎二等獎、江蘇省科技進步獎一等獎等榮譽。
人才培養
2018年4月17日,沈樹忠院士作為煤山小學校校外科技輔導員,為小學生們講解了金釘子地質知識。
2018年4月25日,沈樹忠在太原理工大學迎西校區科學樓2層報告廳作了題為《2.52億年前的超級生物大滅絕》的學術報告。此外,他還介紹了中國科學院南京地質古生物研究所的情況和研究生培養機制,并歡迎太原理工大學的學子到南京地質古生物研究所繼續深造。
2019年6月4日,沈樹忠院士在南京大學地球科學與工程學院帶領團隊成立了生物演化與環境國際班,積極探索多學科交叉培養模式。他結合自己的科研經歷,致力于打造國際化地球科學專業人才培養基地。國際班實行雙導師制,學業導師和科研導師雙向選擇,以學年為單位,自由輪換,科研導師團隊包括多位院士、杰青等。
2023年,南京大學地球生命演化與碳循環國際合作聯合實驗室獲批立項建設,沈樹忠院士擔任中方主任。該聯合實驗室以南京大學多個重點實驗室為依托平臺,聯合麻省理工學院、馬里蘭大學等國外相關領域優勢高校平臺共同組建,為人才培養提供了更廣闊的國際平臺。
2024年9月1日至10月10日,應沈樹忠院士的邀請,澳大利亞臥龍岡大學地球、大氣和生命科學學院院長石光榮教授來訪南京大學,與師生開展了一系列深入的學術交流。雙方確定將在2026年在澳大利亞東部地區開展本科生國際野外科考項目,以培養學生的國際視野和科研能力,支持國際化人才的培養計劃。

個人生活
沈樹忠父親為普通工人,只有一點點文化,母親務農,一字不識,自小家境貧寒,兄長和兩個姐姐都僅僅小學畢業。但父母親看到他自小就愛學習,都很重視,在得知湖州中學招收兩個“農村班”后,通過村里選拔把他送到湖州中學學習。
1982 年,沈樹忠去長興采石廠時遇到了他的妻子,他曾在 中央電視臺綜合頻道《開講啦》欄目中分享過自己妻子在長興煤山剖面的照片。2002年,當沈樹忠第5次到達西藏時,發生了意外,當他的重感冒遭遇了西藏的惡劣天氣條件,他的身體出現了嚴重不適,最后只能靠簡陋的制氧機幫助呼吸,在同事的護送下驅車14小時回到拉薩才脫離危險。

沈樹忠在二疊紀地層學、二疊紀末生物大滅絕與環境變化、腕足動物古生物學等方面取得了系統性和創新性成果。他熱愛地層古生物事業,勤奮踏實,學風端正,肯為集體出力,有較強的組織和綜合研究能力。(中國科學院南京地質古生物研究所評)
