個人生活
2007年3月，麥考伊公開談到了他對阿片類藥物的戰斗。他表示自15歲起就對藥物上癮。2007年，他最好的朋友去世導致麥考伊進一步沉迷于藥物，使他“頭朝下地潛入毒品中”。他經歷了第二次戒毒，聲稱他的阿片受體已經清潔。他對這段經歷說：“我感覺像是我的大腦上剝了一層屎。”在他的博客上，他還表示“我為在我們的音樂中美化藥物使用感到極度的內疚”。麥考伊與歌手凱蒂·佩里交往了兩年多。在2008年12月分手后，他們短暫和好，但由于他的藥物上癮，最終導致了他們的分手。
