陳小明,1961年10月5日出生于廣東省揭陽市,無機化學家,中國科學院院士,生物無機與合成化學教育部重點實驗室(中山大學)主任。曾在加利福尼亞大學圣迭戈分校作訪問學者。
1983年于中山大學化學系獲學士,1986年于中山大學化學系獲碩士學位,1992年于香港中文大學化學系獲博士學位(導師麥松威教授)后回到中山大學工作。1993年12月晉升副教授,1994年12月破格晉升教授,1996年7月被遴選為無機化學的博士生導師。1997年陳小明入選國家“百千萬”人才工程97年度第一、二層次人選。1999年被教育部聘為長江學者獎勵計劃特聘教授。2006年陳小明擔任生物無機與合成化學教育部重點實驗室主任。2009年12月當選中原地區科學院院士。2013年當選為發展中國家科學院院士院士。2022年,陳小明擔任化學與精細化工廣東省實驗室主任。曾擔任中山大學化學與化學工程學院院長,現任溫州市“雙碳”科創港建設戰略專家咨詢委員會委員。

2006年,擔任生物無機化合物與合成化學教育部重點實驗室主任。曾擔任中山大學化學與化學工程學院院長。
2009年,陳小明當選為中國科學院院士。
2013年10月,當選為發展中國家科學院院士;同年,加入巨輪智能裝備股份有限公司創新團隊,建立廣東省巨輪股份化學材料與技術院士工作站。
2023年3月,陳小明擔任中山大學理學部副主任。

主要成就
科研成果
他主要從事功能金屬配位化合物和聚合金屬配合物超分子體系的分子設計、合成和結構與性能研究。目前已取得的主要研究成果有三個方面:
(1)1992年起,開展“金屬酶活性中心構的小分子模擬”的研究,取得具有特色的進展,合成了多種金屬酶活性中心結構的新型模型化合物并進行深入的結構與催化性質研究。
(2)1994年起,開展了“具有光電子性能的簇合物與聚合物研究”,創立合成含銅與其它金屬的異多核配合物的獨特方法,設計和組裝新型異多核金屬配合物,在復雜異多核金屬配合物的分子設計與合成方面取得新的突破,成功建立起系列銅-稀土18核簇合物及其它銅-稀土異多核配合物的新穎制備方法,開展復雜金屬配合物體系的磁性及光電性質研究,為異金屬功能配位化合物在分子光電器件中的應用研究提供了新的基礎。
(3)成功利用橋連配體與金屬離子作為模塊組裝了大量的、具有不同框架結構的聚合金屬配合物,并通過超分子作用等調控聚合物的框架結構,獲得系列具有新穎結構和發光功能等功能的新型有機—金屬聚合物,為此類新型無機化合物—有機雜化材料的研制提出新的研究思路和方向。
1993年以來,主持包括國家杰出青年科學基金和國家基金重點項目等10多項國家和省部級科學基金課題。迄今在國內外學術雜志上發表學術論文230多篇,其中在包括國際第一流的化學雜志《JACS》、德國《應用化學》、《歐洲化學》等知名學術刊物發表200多篇。部分論文已被同行在國際性學術雜志上引證1160多次。根據國家科委情報中心的統計,1996年陳小明在國際上發表(《SCI》收錄)的論文居全國個人排行榜第五位,1997年國際論文被引用篇數全國個人排位第三名。1999年國際論文被引用篇數全國個人排位第三名。曾應邀在13次國際性和17次全國性學術會議上作邀請報告。在教學方面,他曾講授《結構化學》、《波譜化學》、《X射線單晶結構分析》和《金屬配合物的現代研究方法》、《現代無機化學》、《配位化學》等本科生、研究生課程。指導博士后、博士生、碩士生等的科研工作,其中7名博士生和6名碩士生已畢業并獲得相應學位。他指導的一名博士生的學位論文被評為“全國優秀博士論文”(2001年)。2010年,陳小明指導博士生程小寧的學位論文被提名為全國優秀博士論文。

始終站在教學科研第一線,堅持“從細、從嚴、從實”,鼓勵學生立志高遠,培養學生嚴謹、認真的科研態度和創新實踐能力。他不忘初心、胸懷大愛,探索創新型人才培養機制,把學術前沿動態與課堂教學相結合,深受學生喜愛。他為國家培養了一大批杰出人才,所指導的47名博士生中,有19人成為教授、6人獲得國家杰出青年科學基金。曾獲全國優秀教師、國家級教學成果二等獎、廣東省高等學校教學名師獎等榮譽。
獲得榮譽
由于他在科研和教學等方面取得的成績,1996年獲國家杰出青年科學基金的資助。1997年獲第五屆“中國青年科技獎”,首屆“廣東省優秀青年科學家獎”。1998年,獲廣東省自然科學獎一等獎(第一完成人)、廣東省“十大杰出青年”稱號。入選國家“97年度第一、二層次人選。1999年獲得求是科學基金會“杰出青年學者獎”。2000年獲得中國高等學??茖W技術獎二等獎(第三完成人)。2002年獲得中國高等學??茖W技術獎二等獎(第一完成人)。?2007年獲國家自然科學獎二等獎。2017年,獲廣東省科學技術獎突出貢獻獎。2020年11月,獲第14屆日本配位化學學會國際獎(中國大陸首位獲獎人)。2023年,陳小明獲得2023年度盧嘉錫化學獎和香港中文大學理學院杰出校友獎。
