研究方向
生物大分子結構和功能的研究。對核甘酸代謝途徑中的主要 蛋白質及其配位化合物的結構和功能進行研究，主要針對在這一途徑中的關鍵酶的結構和功能 的研究，就人類的相關疾病的藥物設計提供理論指導。另外我們還啟動了膜蛋白結構和功能的研究，從ABC轉運蛋白和P型ATP酶結構和功能的研究入手，試圖建立一個膜蛋白的表達、純化和結晶平臺。
1、病原菌表面毒力因子與宿主相互作用的結構和分子機制
2、病原菌耐藥相關膜蛋白的結構與功能。
3、人類疾病相關的重要人源膜蛋白結構功能研究。
科研情況
1. 蛋白質機器及分子機制，973國家重點項目，子課題負責人；
2. ABC轉運蛋白和P型ATP酶結構和功能的研究——膜蛋白的結構與功能－表達、純化，國家基金委海外合作項目，合作中方負責人；
3. 脅迫條件下細胞內atp平衡調控的結構生物學基礎，國家基金委面上項目，項目負責人；
4. NDP激酶與硫氧還蛋白結構和功能的關系，上海市浦江人才計劃，項目負責人。
5.2020年3月24日，中國科學技術大學微尺度物質科學國家研究中心和生命科學學院陳宇星教授、周叢照教授和孫林峰教授課題組合作，闡明了金黃色葡萄球菌胞壁酸翻轉酶轉運胞壁酸的機制和翻轉酶特異性抑制劑的抑制機制。該研究成果日前在線發表在微生物領域專業雜志《分子生物技術》上。
