汪揚，男，數學家，現任香港科技大學副校長（大學拓展）兼數學系講座教授，同時擔任香港科技大學大數據生物智能實驗室主任及大數據研究所副所長。
人物經歷
教育經歷
1978年，汪揚被中國科學技術大學錄取，但由于色盲問題，他從物理學轉向數學專業。1983年，他畢業于中國科學技術大學，取得數學學士。隨后，他在哈佛大學菲爾茲獎得主David Mumford教授的指導下研究計算機視覺理論，并于1990年取得哈佛大學數學博士學位。
工作經歷
1989年，汪揚加入佐治亞理工學院開始其學術生涯。2006年至2007年，他擔任美國國家科學基金會的課程主任。2007年，他加入密歇根州立大學，擔任數學系主任及教授。2014年，汪揚加入香港科技大學，擔任數學系系主任，并于2016年11月出任理學院院長。2020年10月1日，他被任命為香港科技大學副校長（大學拓展），負責廣州市校區的籌建工作及其人才招聘事宜。

科研成就
汪揚主要從事純粹數學及跨學科數學的學術研究，研究重點包括小波、調和分析、數字信號和圖像處理、機器學習、分型幾何等領域。
