楊占秋，1975年畢業于湖北醫科大學，1992年晉升為教授，現為武漢大學醫學部病毒學研究所副所長、病原生物學系副主任、教授。病毒學國家重點實驗室固定人員、中華醫學會病毒學會常務委員、湖北省微生物學會/免疫學會常務理事、中華預防醫學會武漢分會常務理事、湖北省分析微生物學專業委員會副主委、湖北省醫學會理事/微生物學與免疫學會專業委員會副主委。1996年被授予湖北省有突出貢獻的中青年專家、湖北省優秀教師，享受國務院津貼。
與美國TEXAS大學/WHO熱帶病中心、德國Friedrich-Loeffler研究所、臺灣中山醫學大學病毒中心有科研合作關系。
人物經歷
1993年在英國格拉斯哥大學公共衛生系從事呼吸道合胞病毒基因變異的分子流行病學研究工作。
1998年在葡萄牙Lisboa大學藥學系從事抗HIV藥物研究。
2000年在日本Fukushima醫科大學微生物學系從事抗呼吸道病毒、HSV藥物研究。
研究方向
臨床與分子病毒學（包括流行性出血熱病原學、分子流行病學與抗病毒治療、SARS病毒感染與免疫、病毒診斷及抗腸病毒屬、HIV、呼吸道病毒、皰疹病毒科藥物研究。

楊占秋取得了《流行性出血熱病原學、分子流行病學與抗病毒治療作用》《雙抗體間接夾心ELISA法的建立及其應用》《柯薩奇病毒系列診斷方法的研究及臨床應用》等14項成果。其中湖北省科技進步二等獎3項，湖北省及武漢市和解放軍科技進步二、三等獎11項。國家發明專利1項。

教學工作
楊占秋教授一直從事本科生和研究生的病原微生物學教學工作，現承擔的教學任務有全校公選課/通識課《性傳播疾病與青春期保健》以及研究生選修課《實驗室生物安全》《臨床病毒學》和《生物醫學技術》。
