普皮·阿瓦蒂（Pupi Avati）是一位意大利導演，出生于1938年11月3日，出生地為博洛尼亞。他年輕時曾就讀獸醫學校，但后來退學并加入樂團擔任吹奏架子鼓黑管手，并在冷凍食品工廠工作。十年后，他與兄弟好友合資成立電影制片公司，開始制作并執導電影。1975年，他為皮埃爾?保羅?帕索里尼編寫了《索多瑪120天》。在1980年制作完驚悚片《Macabro》后，他與其兄弟另組公司，在整個80年代都致力于制作通俗喜劇，接連拍攝一連串受歡迎的娛樂片。1991年，他的電影《少男少女的故事》打開了美國市場。同年，他執導的首部英語電影《Bix》一部描述享年僅28歲的爵士歌手Bix Beiderbecke一生浮沉的傳記電影，也獲得了大眾的喜愛。然而，1994年再次執導的第二部英語電影《童年的朋友》卻遭受了嚴重的挫敗。
