范蔚茗，1959年2月出生，博士，曾任中國科學院廣州地球化學研究所所長（2006年4月至2008年11月），中國地質學會副理事長，中國巖石礦物地球化學學會理事。他在巖漿作用、地幔地球化學和大陸巖石圈構造等領域有著深入的研究，并因此獲得多項榮譽，包括廣東省科學技術一等獎（2006年度）。范蔚茗發表了60余篇學術論文，對華北巖石圈減薄、大別山中生代火山作用、東北地區晚中生代火山巖成因以及峨眉山市地幔柱巖漿作用等課題做出了重要貢獻。
