The Western-style building known as the Reception House for Foreign Guests was initially constructed in 1917 during the tenure of General Feng Guozhang as the Jiangsu Military Governor. Throughout its history, it has been utilized as a reception space by both General Feng and the subsequent Nationalist Government. After 1946, under the Nationalist Government and the Presidential Palace, this facility continued to serve as an important venue for receiving foreign dignitaries. Notable figures who have been welcomed here include General Marshall, J. L. Stuart, A. Wedemeyer, among others.
