祖籍沈陽市，生于1938年，1963年清華大學建筑系建筑學專業畢業，同年進入中國電子工程設計院工作至今，1995年至2000年任設計院總建筑師。2002年組建黃星元工作室從事建筑創作，現為顧問總建筑師。1989年晉升教授級高級建筑師。

2000年建設部授予全國工程設計大師。
四十二年來主持設計大量國家重點建筑工程，主持及指導的工程項目有100余項，主要作品有電子大廈、海南廣場會議中心、三亞山海天大酒店、上海永新彩色顯像管有限公司、中國華錄集團有限公司電子有限公司及培訓中心、信華信技術股份有限公司軟件大廈、大連愛立信大廈、中國普天大廈等，對高科技建筑及現代工業建筑創作理論也有專門研究。
獲得的國家級獎項計有：國家優秀工程設計金質獎二項，銀質獎一項，銅質獎一項，國家科學技術進步獎二、三等獎各一項，中國建筑學會建筑創作獎一項，省部級一等獎七項。
自1978年以來，多次赴香港特別行政區、日本、歐美等國考察建筑，參加國際會議和進行項目設計聯絡，與日本大成建設、日立制作所、東芝、香港HBA酒店裝飾顧問公司、荷蘭AIB、美國PARSONS公司均有廣泛合作，并曾在黑川紀章都市·建筑設計事務所及IAO竹中設計公司擔任項目顧問。
1996年在荷蘭海牙，1998年在美國鳳凰城作為成員代表參加了十三、十四屆ICCCS會議（國際潔凈技術會議）。
現為中國建筑師學會資深建筑師，中國建筑學會理事，中國建筑學會建筑師分會理事，工業建筑學術委員會副主任委員，全國注冊建筑師考試委員會副主任委員，中國電子學會資深會員，《建筑學報》、《工業建筑》編委會委員。
Huang Xingyuan [Architect, Chinese Engineering 設計 Master]
Hometown: Shenyang City, born in Yingkou City in 1938. He graduated from the Department of 建筑 in Tsinghua University in 1963 and came to China 電子學 Engineering Design Institute at the same year and worked there up to date. He was the Chief Engineer and the Chief Architect from 1995 through 2000,and set up Huang Xingyuan Studio in 2002 for Architectural Creation.

During the last 42 years, he has taken charged in engineering design for a great number of state key projects, with projects of all kinds and sizes numbered to more than 100 under his charge or instruction. His main works include 電子學 Tower, Hainan Plaza Conference Center, Sanya Shanhaitian Grand Hotel, Shanghai Novel CPT Co., Ltd., China Hualu Electronics Co., Ltd. And the Training Center, 大連市 Huaxin Software Tower, Dalian Ericsson Building, China Putian Mansion and so on. He has also worked on some special study on the theory for high-tech and modern industrial 建筑
The awards he obtained include: 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal for National Excellent Engineering 設計, 1 second place and 1 third place for National Scientific and Technological Advancement, 1 prize for Architectural Creation by ASC and 6 prizes at ministerial and provincial levels.
Since the year 1978, he went abroad many times for 建筑 study tour, international conference and 設計 liaison activities in Hong Kong, Japan, USA and
Europe. Cooperation partners include TAISEI Corporation, 日立制作所, 東芝, HBA Hong Kong, AIB The Netherlands and PARSONS USA. He was once the project advisor for KISHO KUROKAWA Architect & Associates and IAO TAKEDA Architect & Associates.
He attended as the representative of the member country the 13 and the 14 ICCCS Symposium held in The Hague, The Netherlands and Arizona, USA in 1996 and 1998 respectively.
Huang Xingyuan is now the senior Architect of ASC, director of Architect Branch,ASC, the vice-director member of ASC-ICA, the vice-director member of NABAR-Examination Commitee, senior member of China 電子學 Institute and the member of the editorial commission of 建筑 Journal、Industrial Construction. At present he is still active in activities like architectural review and 設計 contest.
