Two friends are about to cut one Hollywood big shot down to size。美版《大謊言家》，故事情節(jié)荒誕曲折。一名聰明機(jī)靈的 14歲的中學(xué)生，但偏偏謊話連篇，由于一次謊言穿幫，不得不重新將老師布置的英文寫作在6個(gè)小時(shí)內(nèi)完成。然而在奇思妙想之后，杰森·謝潑德發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的課堂作業(yè)在上學(xué)的路上丟了。更是離奇的，那片頗具幻想色彩的作文居然被碰巧車載杰森的好萊塢制片人馬提·沃爾夫盜用，并根據(jù)它拍成了一部賣座大片《BIG FAT LIAR》，杰森在去欣賞這一巨作的時(shí)候，發(fā)現(xiàn)這部片子竟然和自己的作文一摸一樣。回到家中他告訴他的父母這一事實(shí)，然而父母因?yàn)樗酝膼鹤鲃。家呀?jīng)不再信任他。苦惱的杰森，異想天開的想找到馬提證明自己這次并沒有說(shuō)謊，以換回父母重新對(duì)自己的信任。
于是趁著暑假英語(yǔ)補(bǔ)習(xí)俱樂(lè)部的空擋，杰森和好朋友凱麗來(lái)到洛杉磯好萊塢片場(chǎng)尋找馬提。身為好萊塢最有權(quán)利的制片人之一，惡名在外的馬提當(dāng)然不是善主，杰森的作文給了他足夠的靈感和榮譽(yù)，一旦被世人知道這部片子并不是自己所創(chuàng)作，功名利祿便全完了。于是，馬提惡意的將作文燒掉并將杰森趕走。這惹惱了杰森，聰明的杰森剛開始還頗具孩子的信任，認(rèn)為惡作劇后馬提就會(huì)妥協(xié)退讓，可馬提為人不善，根本沒有一星半點(diǎn)的澄清事實(shí)的意思。杰森大大失望幾乎要放棄整個(gè)計(jì)劃。就在這個(gè)時(shí)候，經(jīng)常受馬提壓抑的片場(chǎng)工作人員，紛紛義舉，杰森帶領(lǐng)大家經(jīng)過(guò)一連串精彩的斗智加上上帝的保佑，終于讓這位猖狂的惡人、謊言家，在近乎發(fā)狂的自信下，喊出他剽竊了杰森的作文。而此時(shí)，六個(gè)機(jī)位都正對(duì)著他們的表演做實(shí)況轉(zhuǎn)播，天下人都知道了……最后，杰森當(dāng)然贏得了父母的信任。結(jié)局不可避免地再次出現(xiàn)歐式的感人說(shuō)教。“謊話不可取”。
片中惡整馬提的三個(gè)計(jì)劃方案，設(shè)計(jì)的非常經(jīng)典。在最后一場(chǎng)追逐中，利用片場(chǎng)的不同戲劇空間，讓人過(guò)了眼癮。其中還巧妙的利用了一個(gè)西部牛仔對(duì)峙的意境。甚是搞笑。唯一美中不足的是對(duì)杰森的作文拍攝的經(jīng)典環(huán)節(jié)沒有選好。對(duì)說(shuō)明該片到底為什么會(huì)如此之火，不具說(shuō)服力。
