《山地科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)》是由中國(guó)科學(xué)院主管，中國(guó)科學(xué)院·水利部成都山地災(zāi)害與環(huán)境研究所主辦的國(guó)際性全英文期刊。該研究所是我國(guó)唯一專門從事山地研究的科研機(jī)構(gòu)。《山地科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)》于2004年創(chuàng)刊，2005年起由Springer負(fù)責(zé)海外發(fā)行，2007年被SCI收錄。在創(chuàng)刊之初，該期刊為季刊，2011年改為雙月刊，2016年起為月刊。

《Journal of Mountain Science》是由中國(guó)科學(xué)院主管，中國(guó)科學(xué)院·水利部成都山地災(zāi)害與環(huán)境研究所主辦的國(guó)際性全英文期刊。主辦單位中國(guó)科學(xué)院·水利部成都山地災(zāi)害與環(huán)境研究所是我國(guó)唯一專門從事山地研究的科研機(jī)構(gòu)。
主編崔鵬研究員為我國(guó)山地災(zāi)害研究領(lǐng)域的知名專家，44位編委分別來來自5大洲21個(gè)國(guó)家/地區(qū)/國(guó)際組織。
本刊所有稿件須通過同行評(píng)議后方能發(fā)表，同行評(píng)議人員均為該領(lǐng)域的專家學(xué)者，其中， 70%以上為中國(guó)大陸以外的研究人員。
本刊約50%的稿件來自中國(guó)大陸以外的作者的投稿，作者分布在全世界三十多個(gè)國(guó)家和地區(qū)。
本刊于創(chuàng)刊當(dāng)年即被國(guó)際權(quán)威二次文獻(xiàn)系統(tǒng)GeoRef收錄，2006年起被Springer文獻(xiàn)數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)全文收錄，2007年進(jìn)入科學(xué)引文數(shù)據(jù)庫(kù)擴(kuò)展版（SCI-E。
在全世界專門關(guān)注山地研究的期刊中，除國(guó)內(nèi)的《山地學(xué)報(bào)》《山地科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)（英文）》外，國(guó)外專注于山地科學(xué)的期刊主要有Journal of Mountain Ecology（意大利）、Mountain Geologist（美國(guó)）、Mountain Research and Development（瑞士）等，其中被SCI收錄的期刊僅有4種。《山地科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)（英文版）》有關(guān)高山特別是喜馬拉雅山脈地區(qū)的研究在國(guó)際山地科學(xué)研究界引起了廣泛的關(guān)注。
《山地科學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)（英文）》主要發(fā)表在自然條件和人類活動(dòng)影響下山地環(huán)境演變與可持續(xù)發(fā)展的研究論文和知名專家的綜述性文章，選題范圍主要包括應(yīng)對(duì)氣候變化背景下的山地科學(xué)研究、山地環(huán)境演變及其與人類活動(dòng)的關(guān)系，山地生態(tài)系統(tǒng)退化與修復(fù)，以泥石流、滑坡、土壤侵蝕為重點(diǎn)的山地災(zāi)害的動(dòng)力過程及防治理論和技術(shù)，山區(qū)流域管理與開發(fā)治理，山區(qū)特色資源保護(hù)和開發(fā)，山區(qū)文化多樣性和民族經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展，山區(qū)少數(shù)民族問題與居民福利等。
