這首歌是約翰列儂為小兒子sean lennon創(chuàng)作的，當(dāng)時(shí)他只有五歲，還是一個(gè)整天跟著母親小野洋子的孩子。
這首歌的內(nèi)容據(jù)推測(cè)應(yīng)該是sean做了一個(gè)噩夢(mèng)，列儂安慰她的兒子：“怪獸已經(jīng)走了，你爸爸就在這。”
后來轉(zhuǎn)為了列儂對(duì)自己的兒子表達(dá)了深切的愛意，最后的高潮部分是列儂不斷吟唱：“漂亮男孩……親愛的西恩·潘（sean）!”
