伯爾·艾夫斯(Burl Ives)，男，1909年6月14日出生于美國伊利諾伊州亨特，先后就讀于查爾斯頓師范學院和紐約大學。
1938年師從本尼·施奈德，學習表演；同年在百老匯舞臺上登臺演出。1945年進入好萊塢，在影片《火魄伏龍駒》中初登銀幕，但是在以后的多部的影片中出演配角。直到50年代，他高超的表演才能才被肯定。1958年他以《錦繡大地》一片獲得第31屆奧斯卡最佳男配角獎金像獎，以及好萊塢外國記者協會授予的最佳男配角金球獎。
1995年4月14日逝世。

查爾斯·艾夫斯生于伊利諾伊州杰斯帕縣，從小開始唱歌。上過大學，但為時短暫，隨后游歷全國收集演唱民俗音樂。20世紀30年代定居紐約。著有自傳《旅行的陌生人》（1948年） ? 。
