內容簡介
《江邊賣水》選取張信剛教授二十年英文演講精華25篇，漢譯對照結集出版。
這是一部演講集，它們圍繞文化、教育、成長的宏大話題展開，又被一個個生動的小故事或親身經歷或充滿智趣的問題串聯點綴——“大熔爐和馬賽克”“每個人都是對的！”“印度河谷的人頭像：我們是誰？”“牛肉在哪兒”“那兩幅壁畫又如何？”——使人好奇，發人深思。
這也是一位行者的記錄簿。他是絲綢之路上的行者，亦是通識教育的先行者。他如同一位游走于不同文明間的觀察者，用他深厚的人文情懷和廣闊的國際視野講述對當下人文、科技、社會的真知灼見，對教育、創新和香港特別行政區未來的無限憧憬。
董建華在序言末尾寫道：“信剛教授是謙謙君子，他以他平生第一次學術演講的題目《江邊賣水》作為這部演講集的名稱，實是過謙。在我看來，這些演講有著極其厚重的歷史和文化分量。”
作者簡介
張信剛，國際知名生物醫學工程專家。曾在美國、加拿大、法國著名大學任教二十余年，并任香港科技大學工學院創院院長及匹茲堡大學工學院院長。1996 年出任香港城市大學校長。
