威廉·博丁，在電影界的職業(yè)生涯跨越了五十多年，期間導(dǎo)演了各種題材和風(fēng)格的影片，包括喜劇、歌舞片、傳奇片、西部片和情節(jié)劇等。他的作品主要是中等和低成本影片。他在英國(guó)也有過(guò)導(dǎo)演經(jīng)歷，并且曾為電視臺(tái)拍攝系列片。
人物經(jīng)歷
1909年，投身電影界時(shí)是格里菲斯的道具管理員兼做組裝雜物。
1914年，他與瑪格麗特·弗萊舍爾結(jié)婚。
1915年，威廉·博丁開(kāi)始導(dǎo)演短片。
1922年起，他開(kāi)始導(dǎo)演長(zhǎng)篇故事片。他擅長(zhǎng)指導(dǎo)兒童演員，因而被指派導(dǎo)演瑪麗·璧克馥的兩部影片《小安妮·羅妮》(1925)和《麻雀》(1926)。
1934年至1937年，他在英國(guó)導(dǎo)演了十多部影片。
四十年代初期，他為PRC、蒙諾格萊姆等資金少的制片廠當(dāng)導(dǎo)演。
1944年他導(dǎo)演了一部聳人聽(tīng)聞的性教育片《媽媽和爸爸》。
1970年3月18日，威廉·博丁在美國(guó)加州去世，享年78歲。
